#lovemybus
#lovemybus is a vibrant and positive campaign to promote bus as the aspirational choice for a greener, fairer, stronger and healthier Scotland.
The #lovemybus programme is supported by the Smarter Choices, Smarter Places fund from Paths for All and partners including Stagecoach, West Coast Motors, Borders Buses, Glasgow Citybus, First Bus, Lothian Buses and Alexander Dennis Ltd.
The purpose of the campaign is to:
- Improve knowledge of the benefits of bus travel to health, our economy, a fairer transport system and tackling the climate emergency.
- Increase positive attitudes to buses, with understanding that choosing bus can improve health, reduce stress, tackle congestion, reduce emissions and create good jobs across Scotland in manufacturing, engineering, service delivery. Scotland makes zero emission buses!
- Inspire everyone to choose bus over the car for everyday and leisure journeys for their health, and that of the wider community and planet.
- Inspire everyone to choose bus over the car for everyday and leisure journeys for their health, and that of the wider community and planet.

The #lovemybus team founded and lead the annual Scottish Bus Week, and throughout the year work with key stakeholders across Scotland including bus operators, manufacturers Alexander Dennis Ltd, local authorities, schools and campuses, active travel partners and employers as well as Scottish Government and many creative partnerships to celebrate, support and promote all that bus can do for us.
COVID was a particularly challenging time for everyone, including all involved in bus. Our #lovemybus Champions were able to share an insight into all the heroic efforts behind the scenes to keep essential bus services running, communities connected and key workers moving.

Since 2020, #lovemybus has shared and promoted the evidence demonstrating that bus is critical to and must be at the heart of a just, green recovery and a just transition – an understanding and focus supported by the Just Transition Commission and Scottish Parliament.
Now in it’s 4th year, #lovemybus runs a youth programme with a focus on children and young people, and realising the potential of #FreeBusTravel for all those under 22 in Scotland. Our incredible team has engaged with thousands of children and young people throughout 2022, with an exciting and fun Schools programme delivered in partnership with local operators and on campus engagement with students right across Scotland.
Engagement with employers, on leisure travel and the importance of bus in rural areas and for a truly just transition are all active areas of focus in the current programme – with a celebration of bus and all the contributions buses make to Scotland scheduled for Scottish Bus Week from 22-26 May 2023.
Bus is for everyone and must be at the heart of our future – for a fairer, healthier, greener Scotland.
