Moving the Vote: transport conversations with the parties

The Scottish Parliamentary elections in May will prove crucial for the future of sustainable transport in Scotland. In advance of May’s Scottish Parliament elections, we are hosting a series of online events to provide our members, the wider transport sector, and members of the public with the opportunity to engage with representatives of the main political parties in Scotland. A representative from each of the five main political parties in Scotland will outline their party’s vision for sustainable transport should they be elected and then allow attendees the opportunity to ask questions on key transport issues.

We’re delighted to be working with Alastair Dalton, Transport Correspondent for The Scotsman/Scotland on Sunday, who will be chairing the events. We’ll also be joined by experts from within Transform’s membership who will be available to join in the discussion.

The events are open to the public and will be held on Zoom.

We were delighted to welcome Graham Simpson MSP from the Scottish Conservatives for our first event earlier this week. Graham outlined his party’s vision for sustainable transport in the next Parliament, before taking questions from delegates on the call and from social media.

A full report on the call and a link to view the recording can be found here.

Over the next two months, we will be welcoming representatives from the other main political parties in Scotland. The details for these are below:

Scottish Liberal Democrats — Thursday 11 March

We are delighted to welcome Carole Ford from the Scottish Liberal Democrats to our next ‘Moving the Vote: Transport Conversations with the Parties’ event. The event will take place on Thursday 11 March between 13:00-14:00 and is open to the public. You can sign up at the Eventbrite page here.

Carole Ford is the Liberal Democrats’ Spokesperson for Transport, Infrastructure and Connectivity and is standing as a candidate in Glasgow in the May elections.

Scottish Labour Party — Friday 26 March

We are delighted to welcome Sarah Boyack MSP from the Scottish Labour Party to our next ‘Moving the Vote: Transport Conversations with the Parties’ event. The event will take place on Friday 26 March between 13:00-14:00 and is open to the public. We will share the Eventbrite page for this event following the event with the Liberal Democrats

Sarah Boyack MSP is the former Minister for Transport and Planning and currently is a member of the Cross Party Group on Cycling, Walking, and Buses, and the Cross Party Group on Rail.
