Walk, Wheel, Cycle, Vote: four weeks to go until the elections!

Transform Scotland is pleased to be one of the sixty organisations supporting Walk, Wheel, Cycle, Vote. The campaign is asking all candidates for the Scottish local elections being held on Thursday 5 May to sign up to three clear pledges that will make Scotland a country where everyone has the choice to walk, wheel or cycle in safety for their everyday journeys.

Transform director Colin Howden said:

“It’s just four weeks now until the local elections. Since last May’s Scottish Parliament elections, the Scottish Government has made a vital commitment to investment in active travel, committing to at least £320 million or 10% of the total transport budget to be invested in active travel by 2024-25.

“But we’re only going to move to be a country that walks, wheels and cycles rather than drives if local politicians are willing to deliver this in their own areas. This is why it is essential that we see local election candidates for this May’s elections make clear commitment to the three campaign pledges set out by Walk, Wheel, Cycle, Vote.”
