Rail company LNER has today announced its pilot to simplify fares across all of its trains.
Transform rail policy advisor Paul Tetlaw comments on the ticket structure overhaul:
“The latest news from LNER on simpler fares is welcome indeed.
“Passengers can now see three simple fare options for their journey and choose between committing to a particular train or giving themselves flexibility over which train they take. The website is easy to use and sets out very clearly the fares available, the best value ones and the on-board services on each train.
“This is an important step towards attracting more travellers to rail from less sustainable modes – and so helping to reduce carbon emissions from the transport sector.
“For Scottish travellers this comes on top of Scotrail’s current abolition of peak fares so offers even more encouragement to choose rail travel.”
