Now’s the time for a proactive bus industrial strategy

15 September 2025

Responding to the announcement from Alexander Dennis that the company “intends to keep Scottish manufacturing sites open and operational”, Transform Scotland director Colin Howden commented:

“Fantastic news from Alexander Dennis this morning, with Scottish bus manufacturing saved for the time being. The Scottish Government deserves praise for its last-minute interventions to turn around the business’ prospects, but it is now clearly the time for a proactive Scottish bus industrial strategy. This must take advantage not only of manufacturing capacity provided by Alexander Dennis, but also involve the many bus operators headquartered in Scotland.”
