Chief Executive at Transport for Edinburgh

George took up the post of Chief Executive of Transport for Edinburgh (TfE) in January 2016. TfE is the parent company of Lothian Buses and Edinburgh Trams, carrying some 125 million passengers each year, with revenue of £190M, regularly investing some £25M in new fleet and equipment each year. TfE has taken tram advertising “in house” and launched an innovative £4.5M cycle hire scheme for the city. TfE supports the development of the tram network, opening the Newhaven extension on time and budget, future cycling projects, Wayfinding, transport support to Festivals and a Driver Safety Innovation Challenge. George has a wide-ranging co-ordinating role for Edinburgh’s involvement in major events.
