Transform voices opposition to APD in government consultation

Published 03 June 2016 by Jamie Wylie

Transform Scotland has today responded to the Scottish Government’s consultation on the proposed cuts to Air Passenger Duty.

In the response, Transform Scotland outlined its opposition to the proposed changes to Air Passenger Duty, citing harmful environmental, social and economic repercussions from cutting aviation taxation.

Colin Howden, Director of Transform Scotland, commented:

“The four opposition parties all featured in their manifestos strong opposition to cuts to Air Passenger Duty. It is now imperative that they prevent the SNP from carrying out a series of environmentally irresponsible tax cuts which would both worsen social inequalities and damage the prospects for Anglo-Scottish rail services.”
