Community events volunteers

We’re looking for enthusiastic Community Events Volunteers to support our Bus Priority Project this December.

Help us promote sustainable travel by encouraging bus use in communities across Scotland!

As part of our Life In The Bus Lane project, you’ll work on engaging communities across Scotland to promote bus travel and advocate for better public transport options.

Role details:

  • Position: Community Events Volunteer (Bus Priority Project)
  • Hours: Ad hoc, half-day shifts (08:00-12:00 or 13:00-17:00)
  • Location: Home-based; volunteers near Glasgow, Inverness, Perth, Fife, or Aberdeen preferred
  • Travel: Travel expenses covered

What you’ll do:

  • Attend community events at bus stations, colleges, and shopping centres to promote bus travel.
  • Engage with the public, both bus users and non-users, and share positive messages about bus services.
  • Assist in setting up event equipment and merchandise, offering free items and running fun activities like the ‘wheel of fortune’.
  • Conduct short surveys with attendees to gather feedback on their bus experiences.
  • Support the Project Manager and Events Coordinator in delivering event goals.

About you:

We are looking for volunteers who are:

  • Enthusiastic communicators with strong verbal skills.
  • Committed to Transform Scotland’s values of promoting sustainable travel.
  • Comfortable working in a team and engaging with diverse groups of people.
  • Experience with bus or sustainable travel projects is a plus, but not essential.
